The planting was a success!

Twenty trees were planted as a grove just off the northwest corner of the school building.

The trees weighed from between 200 to 350 pounds and pairs of 8th grade students did a great job of getting the trees into the holes at the proper depth.

Many thanks to Principal Darby Weaver and Mount Pleasant Public Schools’ Transportation Department for unloading and placing the trees.

This planting event was generously funded by the URBAN AND COMMUNITY FORESTRY PROGRAM of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

The trees were planted during the school day, by the 8th grade science students, supervised by teachers Luke Epple and Ryan Greaves, and assisted by a number of other teachers, including Patrick Boyd, Zach Colores, Ryan Lillie, Noah Maurer, Matt Walderzak, Dan Weber, and Kristin Willey.

Each team of two 8th graders planted one tree.
